Is my newborn baby automatically covered for 30 days after he/she is born?

No.  For state-sponsored insurance, documentation is required to add any dependent to coverage.  A newborn is not automatically added to medical coverage.  However, once Benefits Administration receives a completed enrollment change application and a copy of the newborn’s birth certificate within 60 days of the date of birth, your baby’s coverage will be retro-active to the date of birth.  Any claims that were previously filed will then be reprocessed with your newborn’s insurance coverage.
