What can you use a limited purpose FSA for?

You can use a limited purpose FSA only to pay for eligible out-of-pocket dental and vision expenses. Eligible expenses include:

  • Dental and orthodontia care, including fillings, x-rays and braces
  • Vision care, including eyeglasses, contact lenses and LASIK surgery
  • Funds in an L-FSA may only be used to pay for eligible vision and dental expenses, but if you have an HSA you may also open an L-FSA.  This helps you continue to grow your HSA funds if you anticipate high vision or dental expenses in a year.
