You may cancel coverage during Annual Enrollment, or by giving at least 30 days advance written notice to Benefits Administration.

Benefits Administration must receive the Insurance Cancel Request Application at least 30 days in advance of the desired cancellation date. If the request to cancel disability is not received at least 30 days in advance, it will be the first of the month following 30 days after receipt before the cancellation will become effective.

Disability cancel request received on 12/31/XX
Disability will be canceled effective 2/1/XX
Disability cancel request received on 2/1/XX
Disability will be canceled effective 4/1/XX
NOTE: February has 28 days which is why the cancellation will be effective 4/1/XX
Disability cancel request received on 9/1/XX
Disability will be canceled effective 10/1/XX
You may change your coverage option during Annual Enrollment, or when you experience a Special Qualifying Event; however, if you are currently enrolled and request an increase in disability coverage, you will be required to submit an Evidence of Insurability application.
The State of TN does not offer Long Term Disability Insurance to Higher Education employees. If you are a Higher Education employee, direct questions regarding LTD to your Agency Benefits Coordinator.
