How long may my Incapacitated or Disabled Dependent be covered on the retiree plan?

A certified incapacitated dependent would age off the Retirement Group Health plan at age 65.

STATE/HIGHER EDUCATION and LOCAL EDUCATION plan members who become entitled to Medicare prior to age 65 due to disability are required to enroll in Medicare part A and B as their primary coverage. The retiree group health plan will pay secondary to Medicare parts A and B until the member ages off. If Medicare parts A and B are not obtained, the dependent will become ineligible to remain covered and may be removed from the retiree group health plan.

LOCAL GOVERNMENT plan members become ineligible to remain enrolled on the retiree group health plan upon entitlement to Medicare regardless of age. If a covered dependent becomes entitled to Medicare, they will be removed from the retiree group health plan.
