It is important to note that OB/GYN doctors are considered primary care doctors under the Partners for Health plan design. Members will only pay for the first OB/GYN visit to confirm pregnancy. If enrolled in a preferred provider organization, or PPO plan, members will pay the primary care copay. If enrolled in a consumer-driven health plan, or CDHP, members will pay the deductible plus coinsurance. For all plan options, members will then pay for the delivery, which is subject to the deductible and coinsurance.
If a member has any difficulties and needs specialized care for complications of pregnancy, or needs more time in the hospital, extra costs will apply.
Members should contact their human resources office with any questions about maternity leave or family medical leave. All questions about enrolling a newborn on their health plan should be directed to Benefits Administration at 800.253.9981 or 615.741.3590 or benefits.administration@tn.gov at the earliest possible time to avoid missing strict enrollment deadlines.
