A medical FSA, limited purpose FSA, dependent care FSA and parking and transportation FSA are available to all active state employees.
Retirees, employees of offline agencies [Beech River Watershed Development Authority, Governor’s Books from Birth Foundation, Greater Nashville Regional Council and South Central Human Resource Agency] and employees of local education or local government agencies are not eligible.
- A medical FSA covers eligible out-of-pocket expenses (copayments, coinsurance) that are not covered by your medical, dental, vision or prescription drug insurance.
- A limited purpose FSA only covers eligible vision and dental expenses.
- A dependent care FSA covers eligible daycare expenses for your child or adult dependent while you and your spouse (if applicable) work or attend school.
- A parking FSA and transportation FSA covers qualified expenses while traveling to or from work or for parking while at work. Examples of qualified expenses are: mass transit vehicles and passes (e.g., bus, commuter vanpool) used to commute to and from your workplace and for vendor parking lots and garages while at work. These accounts may not be used for parking or transportation expenses incurred while on personal time, nor may they be used for fuel, oil changes, car repairs or similar vehicle servicing and upkeep.
